The Shenandoah community is mourning the tragic loss of 19-year-old Aliyah Parker, who was killed in a traffic crash on Interstate 80.
According to authorities, Aliyah was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on I-80 when she lost control of her vehicle and rear-ended the trailer of a semi-truck that was also traveling westbound. A preliminary investigation determined that driving too fast for roadway conditions was the apparent cause of the crash. Aliyah sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and officials are asking any witnesses to come forward by contacting the Traffic Unit at 712-328-4948.
Aliyah Parker is remembered by family, friends, and the Shenandoah community as a young woman with her whole life ahead of her.
